Credence: God, Science and Life
(11/10/2004)
THE year of 1973 Reader’s Digest published a quotation of the most
famous scientist of the era, Albert Einstein, which relates the
science with the religion. The quotation was like this, “Science
without religion is lame; religion without science is blind”. By
this phrase Einstein has given his perpetual view on the existence
of relation between the God and science. There have been
tremendous efforts seen already from several decades solving the
mysteries of the life, universe and the eternal unknown power. For
example, the perplexing formation of crop circles in Southern
England, Canada, many around ancient sites such as Stonehenge,
Avebury and Silbury Hill (the largest manmade mound in Europe) is
termed as the greatest mystery of the modern times. The core
mystery of these aspects is always regarded as the unsolved
mysteries. Lots of efforts were put forward, very intellectually,
to solve the issues in various ways like mathematically and
physically. However, all the theories end up as a speculation
rather than giving a very solid reason.
The main body that has taken part to build life in the universe
were those scattered millions and trillions of protons and
neutrons, which was generated after the occurrence of the
Big-Bang, which was a massive explosion held in the space 15
billion years ago. The Big-Bang was proposed by Edwin Hubble.
However, the theory has a lot of issues, it has the capability to
answer the queries that arise in the field of the universe
creation, the energy and the formation of the very first
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which leads the way to solve the
issue of the creation of life in the very Earth rather than other
planets in this Milky Way.
A French scientist named as Laplace was the first man, who has
publicly presented the relation of the particle at the present
time with its past and future. He stated the theory of “Scientific
determinism”. This theory states that if the position and the
speed of any particle are known at an instant of the time then,
the past and the future of the particle can be calculated. This
means that we would be able to know about the things happened in
the past and that will happen in the future. The theory of
relativity, given by Einstein, also proved, in a different way,
that if a particle can travel faster than the light particle then
it can go back in to its past and in to the future. Around 1926, a
German scientist named Werner Heisenberg put his effort and proved
that Laplace was wrong about the theory of scientific determinism.
Heisenberg had given the theory of Uncertainty, which is also
known as “Principle of Uncertainty”, which mathematically states
that there is not a way, where one can calculate the position and
speed of a particle at a same time and vice versa. However,
Einstein didn’t felt happy about the principle of uncertainty. He
had a deep emotional attachment to the scientific determinism. He
summed up by saying his famous phrase, “God doesn’t play dice”,
stating that the reality of all of the unsolved mysteries, which
obeys scientific laws, might be known to the God only. He further
says that, “How can it be that mathematics, being after all a
product of human thought independent of experience, is so
admirably adapted to the objects of reality?” “As far as the laws
of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far
as they are certain, they do not refer to reality”. Then people
stated his view as the “Hidden variable theory”. However, later
on, a British physicist, named John Bell experimentally proved,
Einstein was wrong when he said about God. Bell stated that the
position and speed of a particle cannot be known in anyway at a
same time. However, looking at the results of the experiments,
other scientist says that God do play dice to solve the issue.
Like Stephen Hawking once stated, on his public lecture that “God
does play dice with the universe”. However, Einstein always
believed in the fact of the nature, which dragged, dragging and
will drag, humans around by the nose, hiding its secrets. Thus, he
had once said that, “Mathematics are well and good but nature
keeps dragging us around by the nose”.
When one will go through the issue of the life, story and
mysteries of the universe and the celestial bodies in the regular
motion in the far sky, the power and the existence of the energy
of the matter to hold through these billion years, which created
life on the Earth by the combination and the chain formation of
DNA and ribo-NA (RNA), then, it will give a brief feeling of
existence of some perpetual energy which is handling the
processing of these universes (WE ARE NOT ALONE; THERE ARE
PARALLEL UNIVERSES). This article is not written to specifically
create a relationship between god and science, but to raise a
question what is that perpetual energy which is holding these all
galactic, biological and rest of other actions that takes place on
the universe and obey the definite law of science, may be
comprehensive or incomprehensive. Above all of these scientific
aspects, an interesting fact is that, the science and religion
both agrees on a same thing about the end of this universe. They
both believe that this universe and all this actions are not
designed to continue forever. According to the Second Law of
Thermodynamics, most stars will have burnt out, and the universe
will be approaching a state of complete disorder in another 15
billion years or so. So, almost all of the scientist, physicist
and astrologist do have belief in the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics,
which states that the earth would be condemned in another 10-15
billion years. In the same way, mythological epics, of several
different religions has the same view on the end of the universe,
only difference is the duration of time that the end is heading
towards us.
There have been lot of theories raised and felled out to solves
all the mystery about core energy, which has still has got its
beauty to easily perplex us. That beauty shouldn’t be disturbed,
in other way, the author believe that no one on earth will come,
had came or are there at present, who can find out the truth of
all these questions. All only one can do is speculating things. I
want to end here now, because it will go on and on, if we go on
asking questions which are not made for us to answer, or at least
we can’t. I thought to end up with other very meaningful thoughts
once said by Albert Einstein, which goes like this,
“A human is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe,” a part
limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts
and feelings as something separated from the rest a kind of
optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of
prison
for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection
for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free
ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to
embrace all living creatures in itself a part of the liberation
and a foundation for inner security.”
